Dr. TRUONG THI THU UYEN

Specialty

Obstetrics and Gynecology

I am Dr. Truong Thi Thu Uyen, an obstetrician and gynecologist. More than 10 years ago, I chose to enter the medical field with the idea that "I have the ability to pass the medical school entrance exam" rather than out of passion for it - a very common way of thinking in our generation at that time. It was not until my 4th year of university, in the delivery room - where that student began to find the small but extremely meaningful things that contributed to who I am today. I still remember clearly the overwhelming feeling when I first set foot in the delivery room, the urgency in the preparation for delivery, the tension and excitement when the fetal heart rate slowed down until the burst of happiness when my healthy baby cried out at birth. That feeling stimulated me to constantly learn about this major and then "got stuck" without realizing it.

The more I go, the more I love the path I am choosing as well as the way I am more mature in my thinking about the profession. When I first graduated, I loved the feeling of performing deliveries, stitching, and surgery for pregnant mothers and patients. I "loved" it so much that I spent a lot of time perfecting my surgical skills because it was definitely necessary. Later, when working at different clinics, I was somewhat surprised because there are still many women out there who are shy and hesitant when going for gynecological examinations. Sensitive, difficult-to-talk-about things become problems that linger for a long time, significantly reducing the quality of women's mental and physical life. Sexual health, family planning methods, infectious diseases, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, although they seem so familiar to us, there are still many things that are not properly understood. Screening methods and early detection of breast cancer and cervical cancer have not received proper attention and if we only wait until there is a "problem", we may have missed the golden time for treatment. All of this makes me try harder to create a safe, comfortable and close space for people to share more easily, spend more time listening, discussing and guiding my customers on what they should and need. Gradually, obstetrics and gynecology for me is no longer a "big knife, big hammer" but instead I focus on giving the women around me the confidence to choose the best and most suitable health care services based on the correct understanding of the customers themselves. I think that is the best thing I have done as an obstetrician and gynecologist. And this is also the core value that Charis Healthcare General Clinic where I am working is building.

I am always grateful that I am a woman, so that I can better understand some of the difficulties, pressures, and problems that the beautiful half of the world may have to go through. And I hope that in the future, with the accumulated experience of many years, trained at Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Tu Du Hospital, Hung Vuong Hospital... along with the companionship of Charis Healthcare, I can bring the best health care journey to everyone.
